Diab Topbild Going Circular

When you buy Diab products, you are lowering your company’s carbon footprint

At Diab, sustainability is essential for our company and customers. We also believe that speed is critical. It is a fact that the next seven years will determine the planet’s 1000 years ahead of us. So, it’s not the time to slow down. It’s a time to be innovative.

It’s a time to accelerate it and do things faster. Our sustainability strategy is defined in two sentences. First, we want to be the best ESG investment in our industry. The second one is that we also want to be the best partner for customers who wish to improve their circularity or circular business models and lower their carbon footprint. So, we want to lead in our industry and don’t want to be led. We have identified carbon footprint as one of our most important areas to work in, and we want to reduce the carbon footprint of our company and our products because they are, of course, linked to each other.

Science Based Targets
When you want to reduce your company’s carbon footprint, you can ask yourself what speed you should have. We decided to engage in the so-called Science Based Target initiative. This is a program or initiative where the latest climate science is defining the targets. How quickly do you need to lower your carbon footprint to keep the planet below 1.5 degrees overheating?

We joined this program back in 2017. We got the first targets approved in 2018, and right now, we are renewing our targets because we have already completed our first five-year plan, and we are still the first company in our industry that has approved Science-Based targets. And when we reduce our company’s carbon footprint, we are reducing the carbon footprint of our products.

It is crucial to have competitive products, not only in the performance and the gains these products make. Our products will lower the carbon footprint whenever used in all segments, whether in the aerospace, wind, or marine segments.

Science-Based Targets - the Key to a Sustainable Future

Diab is the only company in our industry reducing our carbon footprint in line with Science Based Targets. That means we have a documented plan to reduce the carbon footprint of our products approved by UN Global Compact Science Based Targets.

A lower carbon footprint
It’s also good for our customers to have low-carbon footprint products. Because when they buy such products from Diab, they also lower their company’s carbon footprint. When you calculate your carbon footprint, you account for different activities in different scopes. The so-called scope 1 and 2 are your internal activities. Scope 3 is the things that are outside the company. It could be the sourcing of products or sourcing of raw materials, so-called indirect emissions. When you buy a low-carbon footprint product from Diab, it gets accounted for in your scope 3.

That means low carbon footprint products give you a low scope 3, which provides you with a low total carbon footprint for your company.

Diab Scope 1, 2 and 3

Diab also works with our supply chain (Scope 3) because supporting our suppliers in lowering their emissions benefits our products, which benefits our customers' applications. It’s a chain effect that works in both directions.
