Core materials for commercial boats and vessels
Commercial boast and vessels, including fishing ships, rescue crafts, ferries and cruise liners, benefit from light yet strong structural core materials.
Hulls, decks, bulkheads and floors, as well as transoms, engine beds and winch bases, can be made lighter, stronger and stiffer with our solutions.
Our core materials include many benefits, such as good service life and low resin uptake. They allow for excellent impact resistance and damage tolerance and high repairability, and the closed cells significantly reduces water uptake and offers good chemical resistance. The products from Diab are easily formable and have great machinability, which, in combination with a wide range of finishes, offer a design freedom and surface treatment that is far superior to traditional materials.
Our cores can also be used to build fire-resistant parts for vessels, such as loading decks, with reduce significantly the weight and therefore, the fuel consumption in comparison with the traditional materials. In addition, our kitting options make manufacturing easier and more accurate.
The result is a durable vessel with very long service life even in the toughest working conditions, reduced fuel consumption and low flammability. At the end of life, the GL-, DNV- and LR-certified materials can be recycled.
