The new Intercity trains for Egypt and Germany (ECx) based on the Talgo 230 platform specified sustainable sandwich floors to lower weight. Any kg saved in the structure reduce fuel/energy consumption, cost and environmental impact.
A sandwich floor with aluminium skins and Diab PET sandwich core was developed by supplying partners fulfilling all requirements including weight, insulation, noice & vibration and fire classification to EN45545-2 (HL3).
The floor is approved and certified by Talgo. Besides fulfilling technical requirements, the floors are non-wood and not subjected to rot, giving a long lifetime with minimum maintenance.
